Hope Online Terminology
Learning Center – a service provider of Hope Online, learning centers offer a nurturing environment for students and deliver Hope Online ’s online curriculum
Mentor – a tutor who guides students through the Hope Online lessons and ensures that children are learning. Mentors also: contact Hope Online site coordinators when students are experiencing academic problems, help students manage their time and set goals, monitor student work, and fill out daily attendance logs. Mentors are employed by the learning center and are expected to meet regularly with Hope Online site coordinators.
Site Coordinator – a counselor or teacher who monitors the progress of a Hope Online students participating in the online program; oversees mentors and learning centers to offer support and ensure compliance with state and district standards. Site Coordinators are teachers certified by the state and qualified under NCLB. Site coordinators are employees of Hope Online; each site coordinator oversees no more than 10 learning centers.
Site Director – Chief Academic Officer for Hope Online; a certified teacher responsible for overseeing site coordinators, accountability, overall integrity of academic program and student achievement

Learning Centers receive funding from Hope Online based on the number of students attending the Learning Center.
Does Hope Online provide Learning Centers with textbooks and other supplemental materials?
Yes, Hope Online equips Learning Centers with books and work activities which are supplemental to the online curriculum.
Can Learning Centers provide supplemental material and activities for Hope Online curriculum?
Learning Centers may supplement Hope Online's required core curriculum with activities and materials approved by Hope Online. Learning Centers may offer elective classes approved by Hope Online.
Who grades student coursework?
Mentors and Teachers work in tandem to monitor student progress. Hope Online Teachers are responsible for assigning appropriate lessons for students. Many of the online lessons and assessments are graded by the curriculum software.
What computer skills are required for Learning Center staff?
Though Hope Online's curriculum and assessments are based online, the program is simple to use. Basic computer skills and familiarity with the Internet are necessary for Learning Center staff. Hope Online provides curriculum training for all Learning Center staff.
Can public and private schools partner with Hope Online?
Yes, public and private schools may contract with Hope Online to operate a Learning Center.
Hope Online Calendar
Hope Online operates according to a standard traditional year calendar. Slight customization of each Learning Center calendar will occur as the choice of start date and the two flexible holidays impact Quarter and Semester end dates as well as the last day of school. First semester attendance days must equal 90 days and the total year calendar must equal 183 attendance days.
