Hope Online Academic Team Sherida Peterson A veteran of Colorado public schools, Sherida Peterson is Chief Academic Officer for Hope Online. Ms. Peterson is responsible for driving educational performance; overseeing curriculum, instruction and assessment; managing professional development programs and leading an educational team to increase educational opportunities for Hope Online students. Prior to joining Hope Online, Ms. Peterson devoted 30 years to Jefferson County Public Schools where she received her start as an English teacher. Peterson rose through the ranks to become Chief Academic Officer. During her tenure with Jefferson County Public Schools, Ms. Peterson helped bolster student achievement and graduation rates and helped devise an academic and school improvement plan that received acclaim from the Colorado Department of Education. Ms. Peterson earned a Master's degree in curriculum and instruction and an EDS degree in administration and supervision from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Janet Filbin, Ph.D. Director of Student Achievement Janet Filbin, Hope Online’s Director of Student Achievement, brings data-driven instructional expertise to help ensure that all children are provided with the most appropriate, individualized learning experiences that will equip them with the knowledge and skills needed for future success. As Director of Student Achievement, Dr. Filbin is responsible for supporting Hope Online staff to better understand the educational needs of our students. She will work in partnership with staff to align rigorous curriculum, instruction, and assessment of student learning to promote optimum student achievement. Dr. Filbin has over 25 years of teaching and administrative experience in public schools and at the Colorado Department of Education. She has led numerous projects to support student achievement and school improvement efforts, including collaborating in the development ofColorado’sstudent assessment system. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Vocational Habilitation and Special Education from Metropolitan State College of Denver; and a Master of Artsdegree in Special Education from the University of Colorado at Denver. Dr. Filbin holds a Ph.D. in Administrative Leadership and Policy Development from the University of Denver. Susan McAlonan Director of Student Services
